By now most of you have worked out that Facebook is the place to go for getting clients for your boot camps and personal training business.

And it’s true.

Many of my coaching clients get tons of leads and clients from Facebook.

Fan pages and targeted paid ads work great if you have the money to set them up and to run great ad campaigns.

But the one thing that most trainers are missing out on is FREE viral traffic from Facebook.

See, FB is the ultimate in “share it” viral lead generation.

Ever see a youtube video go from nothing to overnight hit because a few people on Facebook posted it on their wall and it just took off? I have seen a few singers recently that have jumped to fame due to this happening!!

I see it all the time.

Here are two things you can do to take advantage of the viral client getting aspect of Facebook.
1. The other way (and way more viral) is to post links to killer content on your wall and the wall of your friends and clients and have the content lead to your site.

2. Every few days, pick a few clients that you worked with and give them props on their Facebook wall.
Don’t make it a pitch, just be genuine and give them honest to goodness props for training hard, showing up all the time, and just for being a cool client.

Soon, their friends will see your comments and check out your profile and some will even contact you.

Easy as that.

Practice Anticipation
The first is called “anticipation” and it involves looking ahead as far as you can and asking, “What could possibly change or go wrong that would threaten our survival?”

Think About the Worst
For example, what would you do if interest rates doubled, as they have done in the past? What if your product, or service, suddenly stopped selling. What if you lost your key customer or major source of revenues?

These and other questions can only be asked and considered by the person ultimately charged with the overall responsibility for results. The failure to think through possible crises in advance can open you and others to fear, panic and confusion if something goes wrong.

Plan for it
You can greatly improve your abilities to function in a crisis situation by thinking it through in advance and by developing contingency plans – just in case.

Work out What Can Go Wrong
The second technique is called the “master method” of decision making. It involves asking, “What is the worst possible thing that can go wrong in this situation?” Once you’ve asked the questions, you must decide whether or not you can live with those consequences. For example, in an investment, or new product introduction, or new promotion, the worst possible outcome may be that you will lose every cent. Can you live with that? Can the company survive? There are many different types of decisions and one of them is the decision you cannot afford to make. Most big failures result because someone made a commitment of resources without carefully considering the worst possible outcome.

Do What the Rich Do
John Paul Getty, the great oil billionaire said that one of his secrets of success was to always determine the worst thing that could happen in any investment – and then make sure it didn’t happen.

Action to Take
First, make a list of the three worst things that could happen to your business or your. Then develop a strategy to deal with these situations if they occur.

Second, practice “anticipation” in each key area of your life. Look into the future and imagine a major setback. What would you do if they happened?

To achieve all your goals and become everything you are capable of becoming you must get your time under control.
To achieve all your goals and become everything you are capable of becoming you must get your time under control. Psychologists generally agree that a “sense of control” is the key to feelings of happiness, confidence, power, and personal well-being. And a sense of control is only possible when you practice time management skills.

Choices and Decisions
If the front side of the coin of success is the ability to set clear goals for yourself, then the flip side of the same coin is the ability to get yourself organized and work on your most valuable tasks, every minute of every day. Your choices and decisions have combined to create you to this moment. To change or improve your life in any way, you have to make new choices and new decisions that are more in alignment with who you really are and what you really want.

It Begins With a List
The basic tool of time management is a list, organized by priority, and used as a constant tool for personal management. The fact is that you can’t manage time; you can only manage yourself. That is why time management requires self-discipline, self-control, and self-mastery. Time management requires that you make the best choices and decisions necessary to enhance the quality of your life and work. Then you follow through on your decisions.

Plan in Advance
Plan every day in advance, the night before. When you make a list of everything you have to do the following day, your subconscious mind works on that list all night long. When you wake up in the morning, you will often have ideas and insights to help you accomplish the items on your list.

Separate the Must Do’s from the Crap
In the process of managing your time, you must separate the urgent tasks from the important ones. Urgent tasks are determined by external pressures and requirements. You must do them immediately.

Action
Make a list of everything you would like to be, do, or have in the months and years ahead. Analyze your list and select those items that can have the greatest possible consequences in your life.

Now what are a few questions you could be asking your clients?

- What is your life about?
- What sort of relationships do you want?
- What has to happen for you to feel healthy?
- How will you know when you are healthy?
- What has to happen for you to get the results you desire?
- How long is a long time for you?
- How can I serve you better?
- What has to happen in order for you to feel successful?
- How will you know when you are successful?

I guarantee you if you ask these types of questions, it will open the flood gates to yours and your clients’ model of the world (an NLP term) and will help you to understand what influences them. In order to lead and influence them you need to understand what already influences THEM…

We help clients set goals and we also set goals for ourselves (both business and personal), but unfortunately, we never truly define what has to happen for us to meet that goal, or how will we know when we have met that goal.

How will it make us feel?

How will it make your client feel??

Until next time,

The Power of Questions is a topic that is frequently discussed in the areas of NLP. As a Fitness trainer and a qualified NLP practitioner myself, I am always asking my clients questions before they start on my programs…

Hopefully you are all using some form of Pre Exercise Questionnare and medical history form? These might include…
- Do you have any prior injuries or medical conditions?
- What specific goals do you have?
- What is your past Bootcamp/PT experience?
- What else do you want to achieve with your fitness?
- Who referred you to this Bootcamp?
Etc, etc…

We ask these questions to get a little more of an understanding of who they are and what happens in their world.

But I have a question for YOU…

Are your questions REALLY helping you to totally understand your clients’ and the world they live in?

Let’s be honest… most Pre Ex Forms that most BIG GYMS give to their clients are not up to scratch!

AND THEY ARE NOT GETTING THE RIGHT ANSWERS!!

Most of them provide nothing more than a brief background and really never get to the core of who the person is and what they really want to achieve.

The quality of your questioning comes down to the quality of your communication. The quality of your questions will determine how soon you form rapport between yourself and your client.

And when you understand what’s REALLY going on with your client they will stay with you FOREVER and they will work for you and send you many referrals (A good problem to have)..

Stay tuned for Part II

There’s one part of boot camp marketing that most trainers are missing:

It’s SELLING!

Getting leads is just one small part of boot camp marketing. Getting leads is the easy part. The other part (and the harder one) is SELLING.

Here are a few ideas to get leads:

1. By Phone – As soon as a prospect tries out your boot camp or submits their phone number on your website, set up a phone follow up schedule.
I make the majority of my follow up calls in the first 4 days because that is when a prospect is the “hottest”

2. By Email – Be sure to have a pre-set email auto responder system. This is a great way to follow up with leads (I use A-Weber and it works great).
The best part is that you only have to create the emails once, then as leads are entered into your “funnel”, the follow up happens on auto-pilot (saves you more time).
Then after they sign up, I call every 10 days, I will call once a week for 30 days, then once a month after that.

3. Through Another Person – If one of your boot camp members referred a friend, or knows a potential client, they can follow up for you.
And if you motivate your boot camp members by giving them half off their next month by getting the lead to sign up, then they will bend over backwards to help you.

4. In person – Something that is not done often enough. For some reason boot camp operators don’t set up initial appointments very often? But it’s such a powerful sales tool. I always try to get them to arrange a meeting, as I know, if they have tried my Boot Camp I know they love it and are much easier to sell to if you have them in front of you (NLP is easier done face to face).
And for leads that will make great referral sources, I’ll take it a step further by taking them out for coffee, or lunch.
If they have a lot of “influence” in the community, or are a big business person, it can be well worth it.

5. By Mail – A personal letter with a hand written address on the envelope is VERY POWERFUL, especially when you enclose a $150 dollar VIP Membership Card to your Boot Camps.
All these methods are like little spokes on a wheel, and when you add them all up, they become a powerful addition to your boot camp marketing.

So after a very emotional and hectic 2011, it is time for us all to reflect on the year that was, take any learnings from it and move onward and upward in 2012.

For myself personally, it one of the toughest years watching my mentor and business coach fight breast cancer and unfortunately lose the battle late in the year. Like I have said to you, I have sat down and looked back and taken what I can learn from all the experiences I have had over the last year.

The one word that stands out to me is: TIME

You can never get it back, once it is gone it is in the past, we all have the same amount of time, how do we spend that time?

So for 2012, a few of my main areas to work on will be:

1. time with family and friends (more of it)

2. time I am at work to be more efficient, this will lead in a better lifestyle for me (something I really need)

3. time to myself

4. time to study, write

5. time to help others grow in the Industry

One thing I learnt in the passing of my mentor was that life (and our time on this earth) is very short, and we never know when it is going end, so we need to ensure we don’t waste anytime on the small things that don’t really matter!!

So I urge you all to grab a coffee, pen & paper and take a little bit of time and sit and reflect on 2011, and then build a path forward for 2012 and beyond. You should be able to sit and do up the direction you wish to take over the next 1,3,5 years & a business plan (one page) for your PT Business.

We can make of it what we want, the choice is ours (yours)!!

I will be back on this site, and work on assisting as many of you as I can to make a difference to as many people as possible…

Here’s to an awesome 2012

As promised here is part II of the Boot Camp business tips for you:

36. When you are complaining you become a living, breathing “crap magnet”
37. Stay far away from complainers.
38. Every time you blame, justify or complain, you’re slitting your financial throat.
39. Rich people play the money game to win, poor people play the money game not to lose.
40. The number one reason people don’t get what they want is cuz they don’t know what they want.
41. Rich people are committed to being rich, poor people want to be rich.
42. You will get paid in direct proportion of the value you deliver.
43. The more people you help, the richer you become
44. Poor people make choices based on fear, “what if it doesn’t work?”
45. Rich people believe, “It will work cuz I’ll make it work.”
46. Get ready the best you can, in a short of time as possible, take action, then correct along the way.
47. Action always beats inaction
48. If you resent what people have in any way, shape or form, then you can never have it.
49. NEVER be the most successful person in your group of friends cuz people earn within 20% of the income of their closest friend.
50. once a week read biographies and watch documentaries of people who have attracted MASSIVE SUCCESS.
51. NEVER talk negatively about yourself… Your words send a strong message to your subconscious and the universe.
52. You have an ethical obligation to SELL your prospects on your service that they need.
53. The road to success is NEVER the comfortable one.
54. If you have BIG problems then you probably have SMALL thinking. 55. If you are not willing to recieve, then you are RIPPING OFF those who want to give to you.
56. Don’t watch the news… You can’t feel bad enough to make someone else feel good.
57. Be in a constant state of appreciation.
58. NEVER work for “hourly” pay.
59. Know your net worth
60. Work smarter by outsourcing
61. Create, then delegate.
62. If you want to create wealth or any other kind of success, you have to be a warrior.
You have to be willing to do what ever it takes, you have to train yourself to not be stopped by anything.
63. NEVER wake up to work… Wake up to achieve your life’s dream.
64. Learn to like fear… Tell it you want to friggin party.
65. Only take advise from people who are more successful than you are.
66. Hire a coach
67. Get an assistant… Seriously.
68. Walk around feeling as if you already are the success you want to achieve.
69. Systematize and automate your business.
70. Create a business that can run without you.
71. When you are maintaining your biz, like training clients, you are working IN your biz (your job) When you are growing the biz, like marketing and creating systems that run without you, you are working ON your biz. (Know the difference and spend at least 80% of your time ON the biz.
